Dan Rockhill and Studio 804: Event Pictures Posted!
DOM Showrooms New York was buzzing with excitement last night as attendees gathered for Dan Rockhill's lecture. The evening started as Dan began to mingle with the crowd which consisted of architects, designers, developers, students, former students, and fans of Dan's work. After an introduction by Bill Menking, from The Architect's Newspaper, Dan took the stage, conveniently set behind Valcucine's gorgeous Alessi kitchen, and presented images of his work with both his architectural firm and with his students at the University of Kansas.
Beginning with an overview of Kansas' geography, Dan painted a picture of the environment and landscape for those of us who have never been there. Dan presented numerous projects completed with his grad students, each one driven by a different design strategy, and all completed as a sustainable design. Proof of Dan's inspirational lecture was apparent as groups huddled around him and the discussion continued through reception. Students from The Art Institute were on hand to help as hors d'ouevres were passed and glasses of wine were poured.
